About ARCADE 64 - Time Off Reveiw
What: Arcade 64 dance party at Casablancas running from 9pm to 5am Saturday Apr 24. It’s being put on by Analogiik, a group of industry professionals committed to providing quality content and online resources in fields of electronic music, multimedia, visual arts, science, technology and culture.
The theme: It’s retro but don’t you dare think ra-ra skirts, leg warmers or headbands. We’re talking ‘retro geek’! That’s right, it’s time to polish up on your gaming skills for all the old favourites.
Hardware specifics: There’ll be a vintage games room with the following gear: Atari 800XL, TEMOC T-800 console (Pong in black and white), SX64 (first colour transportable computer), CD 32 (first 32-bit CD Games console), a wide range of AMIGA consoles, Commodore 64 and 128, SNES, Okimate 20 (early colour printer) and ‘Introspection Of A Traveller’, a two-minute video visuals, music and narration package by Amiga.
Soundtrack: Organisers are promising “the finest local and international live acts for a night of blistering beats, acid, techno, breaks and console bleeps”. More specifically, you can catch sets by Tomax, GOTO80 (playing a set on a Commodore 64 – woah, total spinout!), Ponyloaf’s Shano & Damo, Dri, Shadrach, Superfluid, Pharmacy, Dejan vs Sidewinder, Hexadecimal and Delayhaye.
Making it sound good: Organisers are promising an impressive audio system with excessive watt power, quadraphonic subwoofers and 360-degree speaker setup.
Making it look good: There’ll also be a stencil art exhibition featuring retro gaming inspired and themed stencil art on display. These works come from some of Brisbane and Melbourne’s finest artists.
Cost: It shouldn’t really matter when the entertainment’s this good, but if you must know, it’ll cost you $10 to get in. Tickets can be purchased from Butterbeats, Rocking Horse, U&R Coffee Deli (Stones Corner), www.brisbane247.com and Tempest Recordings.

Arcade 64 - where rave meets computers in Brisbane 09:00 am
Liquor licencing laws relating to Anzac day will see many clubs and pubs in Brisbane close at midnight on Saturday 24 April. Arcade 64 however are prepared and ready to rock you with a party themed around vintage computing and games arcades. They have secured a licence to stay open until 3am, so the promoters advise to get in early with a ticket, rather than rush there after midnight.
Arcade 64 will feature the finest local and international live acts for a night of blistering beats, acid, techno, breaks and console bleeps.
